Android™ Becomes More Accessible for Intel® Embedded System Developers With New Portal & Resources from Insyde™ Software

Insyde Selected to Distribute Android BSPs for the Latest Intel® Embedded Platforms.

INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM - SHENZHEN, CHINA - APRIL 1, 2014 - Insyde Software, a leading provider of Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) BIOS and x86 Android software distributions today announced that it is offering embedded systems developers access to the latest Android Board Support Packages (BSPs) for embedded Intel® Atom™ processor E3800 product family M/D/I Customer Reference Boards. Customers can find this resource at: www.insyde.com/products/androidsolutions/android_portal.

Already widely used across a wide range of mobile devices, Android is quickly making inroads as a preferred operating system for connected, intelligent systems. The Android development services offered by Insyde Software can help embedded systems designers quickly deploy Android for the “Internet of Things” embedded devices. From Insyde Software’s web portal, developers can obtain the necessary Android and Intel software to install, boot and test Android on their reference hardware, in addition to getting source code.

"We are pleased to work with Insyde Software to help make Android more accessible to embedded system designers working with our latest Intel® Atom™ silicon" said Mike Carboni, director, Software Development, Product Enabling & Development for the IoT Solutions Group at Intel. "Insyde’s unique UEFI and Android-on-x86 expertise provides a valuable resource and increased opportunity for product differentiation to our embedded customers."

Insyde Software was chosen by Intel to offer these resources because of Insyde’s deep experience helping its OEM customers bring to market new Android-on-x86 devices. Through its unique position as both a UEFI BIOS and x86 Android distribution provider, Insyde Software is able to provide embedded systems makers a single point of contact to help enable their new designs with firmware, ported Android, customization, and an array of optimized features. Some of the value-added includes: Humanos™ (Insyde's optimized version of x86 Android), Multiple-Open-Windows, Secure Boot, Google certification testing preparation services, unique Android apps, and an Android App Market.

Insyde Software will be providing more details on this newly launched resource at its booth (#160) during the 2014 Intel Developer Forum, occurring April 2nd-3rd in Shenzhen, China.
