Insyde® Software’s Ultrabook™ Enabling Center Fosters a New Era in Computer Portability and Performance

Robust UEFI BIOS, Dedicated Engineering Support and Leading Edge Technology Helps OEMs Deliver New Ultra-sleek, Stylish and High-performance Intel® Ultrabooks

INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM BEIJING, CHINA, APRIL 11, 2012 - Insyde Software, an Intel Capital portfolio company and a leading provider of Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) BIOS, today announced the expansion of its Ultrabook Enabling Center (UEC). Established in July 2011, the UEC was created to help Insyde's customers develop enabling technologies critical to Intel Ultrabook platforms.

As defined by Intel, Ultrabooks are high-end subnotebooks that must meet certain criteria to fit into the category. Ultrabooks are designed to be smaller in size and weight, compared to traditional notebooks, while possessing exceptional battery life -all without compromising performance. They use low-power Intel processors with integrated graphics, leverage solid-state drives and have an extremely thin profile.

Insyde’s many customers, including Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Sony and Toshiba, that have taken advantage of the UEC have reaped the following benefits:

  • Platform optimization of key Ultrabook features including Intel Rapid Start Technology, Intel Smart Response Technology and Intel Smart Connect Technology to name a few.
  • Fast boot technology leveraged across an entire family of Ultrabook platforms.
  • Extended battery life with optimized resume times.
  • OS-Switching technology, allowing dual OS platforms the ability to quickly and seamlessly switch between operating systems such as Windows and Android.
  • Personalized engineering support from design to mass production.

"Ultrabooks bring numerous design and product feature challenges to the industry," said Aven Chuang, SVP and GM, Personal Computing Group, Insyde Software. "Our close working relationship with Intel and in-depth knowledge of enabling technology for mobile computing allowed us to help bring dozens of Ultrabooks to market for our customers," added Chuang.

"Insyde Software is one of the collaborators in helping Intel fulfill its Ultrabook market objectives," said Eric Sun, Senior Director, Intel Capital. "Insyde's Ultrabook Enabling Center is a valuable resource that OEMs can leverage to help meet their time-to-market objectives when designing their next-generation Ultrabook platforms," added Sun.

Insyde Software will have several of its customer's Ultrabooks on display at Booth #Ge06 during the Intel Developer Forum being held in Beijing, China on April 11-12, 2012
