Insyde® Software Enables ASPEED Technology’s Root-of-Trust Solution in its Supervyse® BMC System Management Firmware

Implementation’s Compliance with NIST SP 800-193 Increases the Efficiency of Secure Firmware Image Verification

TAIPEI, TAIWAN – NOVEMBER 29, 2022 – Insyde® Software, a leading provider of UEFI BIOS and BMC management firmware, announced today that its Supervyse® BMC System Management firmware now supports ASPEED’s HRoT (Hardware Root-of-Trust) on the AST1060 Platform Firmware Resilience (PFR) System-on-Chip, providing customers with a compelling solution for Intel & AMD-based servers to achieve NIST SP 800-193 compliance.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) introduced the NIST 800-193 guidelines to help build servers that are resilient to the increasingly sophisticated attacks targeting firmware. Leveraging Hardware Root-of-Trust compliant PFR implementations provides firmware resiliency by detecting whether firmware and critical data has been corrupted, protecting the firmware from unauthorized modification, and if necessary, recovering corrupted firmware from a known-good recovery image. This new solution from Insyde Software and ASPEED supports bringing PFR to Intel and AMD’s latest server platforms.

“We are glad to have Insyde’s support for our Hardware Root-of-Trust with their Supervyse BMC firmware,” said Chris Lin, Chairman and President of ASPEED Technology. “We look forward to seeing our mutual customers take advantage of this solution with Insyde’s world-class engineering and support services to bring more secure and resilient servers to market,” added Lin.

“Today’s announcement reflects our longstanding relationship with ASPEED as a key partner for our system management solutions,” said Jonathan Joseph, Chief Operating Officer of Insyde Software. “Our support for ASPEED’s HRoT with Supervyse immediately makes available a strong option for customers to implement PFR and reduce the attack surface of firmware to bad actors,” added Joseph.
