Insyde® Software Helps Leading Notebook Makers Add High-Speed Thunderbolt™ 3 to New Laptops

Acer, Fujitsu and HP among the Company’s Customers Taking Advantage of Higher Speeds, Full 4K Video, Single-Cable Docking and More

COMPUTEX – TAIPEI, TAIWAN, MAY 31, 2016 Insyde® Software, a leading provider of UEFI BIOS, announced that many of its customers, including Acer, Fujitsu and HP, are leveraging InsydeH2O® UEFI BIOS to help bring Thunderbolt™ 3 technology to some of their latest notebook designs.

Thunderbolt is a revolutionary I/O technology that supports high-resolution displays and high-performance data devices through a single, compact port that carries both DisplayPort and PCI Express data. Thunderbolt 3 doubles the bandwidth of Thunderbolt 2 to 40 Gbps (5 GB/s), decreases power consumption by half, and can simultaneously drive two external 4K displays at 60 Hz or a single external 4K display at 120 Hz.

From small, innovative notebook form factors to high-performance gaming machines, the latest designs featuring Thunderbolt bring exciting new capabilities to notebook PCs. From Acer, the innovative detachable 2-in-1 Acer Aspire Switch 12s and powerful gaming Predator 17 Series notebooks ship with InsydeH2O and Thunderbolt 3. One of the world’s thinnest and most elegantly designed laptops on the market, the HP Spectre 13.3 takes advantage of Thunderbolt 3 powered by InsydeH2O as does Fujitsu’s CELSIUS H760 Full HD Mobile Workstation powered by Intel® Core i5™, Core i7™ and XEON® processors.

“Thunderbolt 3 is the latest in a long line of new technologies that we’ve relied on Insyde Software to enable on our platforms. Insyde is a longstanding and trusted firmware provider to Acer,” said Wason Shyu, AVP at Acer Taiwan R&D Center.

“Having Insyde Software’s support to enable Thunderbolt 3 allows us to further differentiate the advanced capabilities of our CELSIUS H760 Mobile Workstation. We appreciate Insyde’s timely support for this latest technology,” said Hisaki Kondo, VP at Fujitsu Client Computing Ltd.

“It’s critically important to our customers that we have timely support for new technologies such as Thunderbolt 3 in our flagship InsydeH2O UEFI BIOS,” said Aven Chuang, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Personal Computing Group at Insyde Software. “We are proud to have Acer, HP and Fujitsu among our list of elite OEM customers that rely on us to help enable these new, high performance technologies,” added Chuang.

Insyde Software will be showing demonstrations of this technology at the Grand Hyatt (Room #1027, 10F) during the Computex Taipei trade show, occurring May 31st -June 3rd, 2016 in Taipei, Taiwan.
