Insyde® Software Joins Compute Express Link™ Consortium

Supports the High Speed CPU Interconnect Specification Which Accelerates Next-Generation Data Center Workload Accelerators

HILLSBORO, OREGON, October 29, 2020 – Insyde® Software, a leading provider of UEFI BIOS and systems management software today announced its membership in the Compute Express Link™ (CXL™) Consortium. Compute Express Link is an open standard interface for high-speed communications designed to address the increasing use of accelerators (GPUs, FPGAs) to complement CPUs in emerging datacenter workloads such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

This new high-speed CPU-to-Device and CPU-to-Memory interconnect is built on the existing PCI Express® 5.0 (PCIe®) infrastructure, adding protocols for more efficient data movement and memory management that can help deliver benefits such as higher performance, reduced software stack complexity, and lower overall system cost. Insyde Software’s flagship product, InsydeH2O® UEFI BIOS, will provide full support for this new specification when new server-based hardware supporting PCIe 5.0 and CXL becomes more broadly available next year.

“We are happy to be a part of this industry Consortium and new open standard for servers,” said Mohamad Saleh, VP of Data Center and Embedded Engineering at Insyde Software. “Insyde Software has a long, successful history of early support for leading-edge industry standards, and our customers will be able to rely on our full support for this technology to accelerate their next-generation server designs,” added Saleh.
