Insyde® Software Powers First Wave of Next-Generation Ultraportable PCs from Intel’s “Project Athena” Innovation Program

InsydeH2O® UEFI BIOS Enables New Class of Smarter, Faster and More Efficient Intel®-based Ultraportable PCs from Acer®, HP® and Lenovo® 

TAIPEI, TAIWAN, December 5, 2019 – Insyde® Software, a leading provider of UEFI BIOS and systems management software, today announced that several of its customers are now shipping InsydeH2O® UEFI firmware on their newly launched ultraportable PCs created under Intel’s new “Project Athena” innovation program.  This new class of devices are designed to be the thinnest, lightest, most powerful Intel-based PCs available.

Officially announced at Computex Taipei 2019, Project Athena is an industry-wide innovation program led by Intel to design the next generation of ultraportable PCs with its industry partners. The ultraportables designed in this program feature the latest 10th generation 10nm Intel Core CPUs, WiFi 6, Thunderbolt 3, and built-in AI (Artificial Intelligence) with advanced voice assistance. Along with substantial improvements in performance, efficiency and connectivity, these new notebooks offer intelligent features such as wake-on-voice, the ability to check e-mails in sleep mode, and access to popular voice assistant services such as Amazon Alexa even when the PC is locked or sleeping.

InsydeH2O delivers the latest in security and performance features for fast, secure and reliable boot. Security is a top concern among all computer makers and Insyde Software’s support for the latest Windows 10 security features and industry specifications, including Secure Boot, TPM 2.0, Secure Firmware Update and much more are critical components to harden platform security. Included among the new products powered by InsydeH2O and verified under Project Athena are the Acer Swift 3 and Swift 5, HP Envy 13 Wood Series, and the Lenovo Yoga C940 and Yoga S740.
