Insyde® Software Ready for Windows® 10 Anniversary Update

Wide Range of Platforms to be Upgraded – Platform Security a Key Focus

COMPUTEX - TAIPEI, TAIWAN – May 31, 2016 – Insyde® Software, a leading provider of UEFI BIOS, today announced that its flagship UEFI product, InsydeH2O® is now ready for system and device manufacturers to test the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, targeted to be released this summer by Microsoft®.

To become “Windows 10 Anniversary Update Ready” Insyde Software has closely collaborated with Microsoft, semiconductor partners including Intel and AMD, and many OEM/ODM equipment and device manufacturers to ensure countless combinations of hardware designs, OS-level features and firmware customizations are fully designed, implemented, tested and delivered.

Platform security is a key area of emphasis for the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, which includes new requirements to support TPM (Trusted Platform Module) 2.0. All of the required functionality to comply with TPM 2.0 has been implemented and verified with InsydeH2O. To ensure complete compatibility and firmware-to-OS level compliance, Insyde Software quality assurance engineers have run hundreds of tests against the Microsoft HLK (Hardware Lab Kit).

Meanwhile, Insyde Software has implemented new security features to enhance platform security for OEM/ODM’s Windows 10 products. Hard Disk Password features have been extended from traditional SATA Hard Disks to the latest storage media, including eMMC, eDrive and PCIe/NVMe SSD. Fingerprint authentication also can be supported in the pre-boot environment to ensure only authorized users can access BIOS SETUP or unlock storage media which was locked by the Hard Disk Password feature. With Insyde Software’s latest security features, end users’ system and data will be well protected against malicious threats.

In public statements, Microsoft has described Windows 10 as a unified platform that will use the same code and the same apps on desktop and laptop PCs, tablets, phones and even game consoles. In addition, Windows 10 will be targeted at embedded devices such as ATMs, point-of-sale machines and a wide range of IoT (Internet of Things) devices. Since Windows 10 requires a specific version of UEFI firmware with secure boot enabled, Insyde Software expects to see expanded opportunities in many of these target segments where previously the use of UEFI firmware was not required.

Insyde Software will be providing more details and demonstrations of its Windows 10 Anniversary Update readiness during the Computex Taipei trade show, May 31 – June 3, 2016 Grand Hyatt Hotel, Suite 1027 (10th floor) in Taipei, Taiwan.
