Insyde Software Top Choice for Next-Generation Laptops

Brand Name Notebook Vendors Embrace InsydeH2O™ as the UEFI Framework Firmware-of-Choice

INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM, SHANGHAI, APRIL 02, 2008 - Insyde Software, a leading provider of Universal Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) based firmware, BIOS, and engineering services, today announced that its InsydeH2O UEFI Framework firmware is shipping on a number of name brand notebook vendors including Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Toshiba. Insyde Software will showcase the highly popular InsydeH2O and other UEFI Framework firmware products in booth #GE009 at the Intel Developer Forum taking place at the Shanghai International Convention Center April 2-3, 2008.

"Insyde Software has been dedicated to UEFI firmware development for many years. By working closely with customers we have earned their full confidence in InsydeH2O's capacity to provide notebooks with reliable system support," said Jeremy Wang, Chairman and CEO of Insyde Software Corp. "We are proud InsydeH2O has been selected as the best-in-class and we will continue to provide exceptional products and services to meet the market demand."

InsydeH2O, based on the Intel Platform Innovation Framework for EFI utilizes the higher level C language allowing the firmware to be easily developed, modified and maintained.InsydeH2O's Compatibility Support Module (CSM) meshes legacy BIOS and Framework code to permit backward compatibility with legacy BIOS interfaces. This allows systems vendors to continue to employ the standard operating systems and tools they use today while making a gradual and managed transition to UEFI.

InsydeH2O also is paired with a built-in firmware analysis tool, called H2ODDTTM. This tool has gained acclaim among firmware developers for its ability to help OEMs and ODMs reduce development costs and shorten time-to-market.

Among firmware providers, Insyde Software was the first to offer a UEFI Framework based BIOS replacement product to the market. As PC manufacturers began to produce UEFI-based products, Insyde Software's engineers and UEFI-based firmware facilitated OEMs and ODMs in the development of new product innovations. Millions of notebooks currently on the market are shipping with InsydeH2O firmware inside.

"As the market demand for UEFI-base products has increased, we have seen an associated substantial increase in demand for InsydeH2O," said Mr. Wang. "Our goal is to continue supporting the mobile market expansion and to extend our InsydeH2O coverage to provide products for real-life and reliable computing in desktop, server and embedded platforms."

Insyde Software invites visitors to the IDF in Shanghai to stop by Insyde's booth to learn more about our close relationships with leading PC vendors.
