Environmental Protection

At Insyde Software, our core business focuses on the design, development, installation, and modification of software and firmware. As we do not operate any production facilities, our environmental impact is inherently lower.

However, we fully recognize that climate change is one of the most pressing global environmental challenges. In response, we implemented our “Energy Saving, Carbon Reduction, Greenhouse Gas Reduction, and Waste Management Policy” in September 2017. This policy outlines our proactive approach to sustainability and is available in detail under our Corporate Governance/Organizational Rules.

Since electricity consumption is the primary source of our greenhouse gas emissions, we are dedicated to improving energy efficiency and implementing energy-saving initiatives. These efforts are central to our environmental management strategy as we continue to minimize our carbon footprint and contribute to a greener future.

Conserving Energy

Our primary source of greenhouse gas emissions comes from carbon dioxide generated through electricity consumption, categorized as indirect emissions. Using 2016 as the baseline year, our goal is to reduce overall greenhouse gas emissions by up to 5%.

Progress:

The greenhouse gas emissions comparison for the most recent year is as follows:

In 2019, the company gradually replaced traditional T8 fluorescent tubes in the Taipei offices with LED tubes, completing the replacement of 279 units by the end of September. This involved an expenditure of NT$261,600. Additionally, we promoted the importance of energy conservation, resulting in a 1.75% reduction in electricity consumption compared to the 2016 baseline. When compared to the previous year (2018), there was a 3% reduction.

Reducing Paper Use

Employees are encouraged to make use of paperless methods to reduce the consumption of paper. The company promotes the use of paperless options, such as utilizing personal identification certificates, to access various information, reducing the need for documents like annual tax withholding statements, labor and health insurance fees, and health insurance fee statements. This not only saves internal processing time, reduces paper-based operations and costs, but also conserves paper resources. Starting in 2023, the company’s new HR system has been implemented, allowing online inquiries, and allowing us to discontinue the use of paper documents. The status for this goal is as follows:
