Insyde® Software Launches TapRUUT™ for Client with Microchip’s Embedded Controller, Advancing Platform Security and Resilience

Hardware-Anchored, NIST SP 800-193 Compliant Solution Validated on Microchip Technology’s MEC1723 EC, Ready for Customer Deployment

CYBERSEC – TAIPEI, Taiwan – May 5, 2026 – Insyde Software, a leading provider of UEFI, OpenBMC, and Root-of-Trust firmware, today announced TapRUUT™ for Client, a NIST SP 800-193 compliant firmware resilience solution that delivers an immutable, hardware-anchored Root of Trust for client computing platforms. Validated on the Microchip MEC1723 embedded controller, TapRUUT for Client is production-ready for customer deployment.

TapRUUT meets NIST SP 800-193 guidelines for firmware protection, detection, and recovery—and extends them with device attestation, enabling platforms to cryptographically verify firmware integrity to external parties. Compatible with Microchip embedded controllers running the Zephyr RTOS, the solution enables system-wide firmware resilience without hardware redesign.

Microchip’s MEC1723 embedded controller, an Arm® Cortex®-M4F–based platform, provides integrated cryptographic acceleration and secure firmware services—including authenticated updates and granular flash protection—forming a robust hardware foundation for TapRUUT’s Root-of-Trust architecture.

“Our partnership with Microchip enables us to deliver tightly integrated, forward-looking security solutions for client platforms,” said Alan Lo, VP of Insyde Software. “TapRUUT for Client reflects our shared commitment to platform resilience—delivering not only NIST SP 800-193 compliant firmware resilience, but capabilities like device attestation that position our customers ahead of evolving threats.”
