Joint Sessions with Astera Labs and ASPEED Technology Highlight SerDes-Level RAS Telemetry and Silicon-Native Root of Trust

From Hyperscaler Requirements to Open Standards: Delivering AI Fabric RAS Through COSMOS and OpenBMC, presented by Janny Au, Director of OpenBMC Engineering at Insyde Software, and Caleb Shetland, Senior Principal Firmware Engineer at Astera Labs, demonstrates Astera Labs’ COSMOS Rack-Scale Connectivity software model. The session exposes SerDes-level telemetry — per-lane eye height, BER, link state, error counters, and LTSSM logs — through DMTF Redfish APIs, standardizing RAS access across multi-vendor AI fabrics and accelerating root-cause analysis. Silicon-Native Root of Trust for OpenBMC: Integrating AST2700 iRoT into Open Data Center Firmware, presented by Jeff Chang, Insyde Software, and Chiawei Wang, Software Manager, and Neal Liu, Assistant Software Manager, of ASPEED Technology, details the joint reference architecture integrating ASPEED’s AST2700 silicon-native Root of Trust into Insyde’s Supervyse® OPF OpenBMC platform. Built on the open-source Caliptra specification with DICE identity, PUF-based key storage, and post-quantum crypto readiness, the design anchors the full BMC firmware stack in a single-chip trusted execution environment, supporting OCP DC-SCM and Platform Firmware Resiliency objectives.
